Frost Bank statement to QuickBooks or Xero: Frost Connect exports, eStatements and tie-out
Frost Bank offers business customers two kinds of online banking: Business Online Banking, and Frost Connect, its business portal for more complex cash management, which comes as Frost Business Connect or Frost Treasury Connect. Frost's pages describe transaction exports and online statements, but in less detail than some banks, and some of what they say doesn't line up. Here's what Frost documents, and what it doesn't, for getting a business account's history into QuickBooks or Xero.
What Frost gives you
- Two Frost Connect tiers. Frost describes Business Connect as for small to mid-market businesses, managing up to 10 personal and business accounts across multiple entities, and Treasury Connect as its corporate portal for commercial customers (Frost: Frost Connect, no date). Frost's Business Online Banking page points businesses with more complex cash management needs to Frost Connect (Frost: Business Online Banking, no date). Ask the client which one they sign in to, since the pages below describe them differently.
- Transaction exports. The Frost Connect page says Business Connect can "Export transactions to QuickBooks software" and Treasury Connect can export "to a variety of software packages and export formats" (Frost). The Business Connect product sheet uses the "variety of software packages and export formats" wording for Business Connect too (Frost: Business Connect product sheet, R(08/25)). The Treasury Connect page lists "More-Flexible Export" among its features (Frost: Treasury Connect, no date).
- About 18 months of transaction history. Frost describes an 18-month rolling history of account activity for Frost Connect (Frost), and the Business Connect page says users can build and access up to 18 months of transaction history (Frost: Business Connect, no date).
- Online statements. The Frost Connect page says Business Connect users can view up to 7 years of account statements and 18 months of check images, and Treasury Connect users up to 7 years of check images, account statements and account analysis statements (Frost). The Treasury Connect page lists eStatements and account analysis statements online (Frost).
- Downloads to accounting software. Frost's Online Banking Agreement lists "Downloading account information to management and accounting software (e.g. Quicken)" among the services online banking may include (Frost: Online Banking Agreement and Disclosure, effective July 1, 2025).
Before you start
- Bookkeeper access. Frost says Frost Connect lets you set permissions for each user (Frost). Its Treasury Connect user maintenance guide shows an administrator setting a new user's Reporting permissions and choosing which services the user gets on each bank account (Frost: Treasury Connect user maintenance, R(10/19)). The Business Online Banking page says you can give employees or partners access with or without full control (Frost). Ask the client to add you as your own user. Frost's agreement says that if you let another person use your online banking or give them your User ID and password, you're responsible for everything they do, even if they go beyond what you authorized (Frost). Intuit says accountants can't connect a bank account for their clients (Intuit: connect bank and credit card accounts, updated Oct 1, 2026).
- Sign-in uses a token. Frost says Frost Connect users sign in with a one-time password from a Frost Security Token (Frost). Plan time for your own user to be set up before a deadline.
- Closing an account ends online access. The agreement says access to online banking is disabled if all of the customer's deposit or loan accounts are closed (Frost). Download every statement and export the books need before a client closes or moves an account.
- Paper copies have a window. Frost's E-SIGN agreement says you can ask for a paper copy of an electronic communication within 90 days of its original date, and fees may apply (Frost: E-SIGN Agreement, no date).
Where Frost's pages need checking
- Seven years of statements, or 90 days? The Frost Connect page and both product sheets say 7 years of account statements (Frost; Frost; Frost: Treasury Connect product sheet, R(02/26)). The Online Banking Agreement says Frost will keep each electronic statement online for "at least ninety (90) days" from when it's first made available (Frost). Frost's Online Statement Delivery agreement says the same 90 days, says Frost may not be able to supply a statement if a substantial period has passed, and says Frost isn't accepting responsibility to archive statements beyond what the law or the agreement requires (Frost: Online Statement Delivery Agreement and Disclosure, undated). The 7 years describes what the portals show; the 90 days is what the agreement promises. Save each month's PDF when it arrives.
- Which file types? No Frost page we read names the export file types: not .QBO, .QFX, OFX or CSV. "QuickBooks software" (Frost) doesn't say which QuickBooks or which file. Intuit says QuickBooks Desktop imports Web Connect files in .qbo format (Intuit: set up bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop, updated Aug 5, 2026), so check the extension of the file you get before you import it.
- Where the export lives. The Treasury Connect navigation guide says the Reporting menu gives access to reports and download functionality (Frost: Treasury Connect basic navigation, R(10/19)). The Business Connect navigation guide lists Home, Payment Center, Accounts, Contact Center, Employees, Fraud, Administration & Settings and Other Services, with no Reporting menu, and notes that menu options vary with your permissions (Frost: Business Connect basic navigation, R(07/20)). The current Business Connect page does list Reporting tutorials, including "How to Create and Download Reports" and "eStatement Search" (Frost). Those are videos, and we didn't review them, so we can't give click-by-click steps.
- 18 months from when? The Treasury Connect page says that once you're on the new platform you can build and access up to 18 months of transaction history (Frost). If a client moved to the current platform recently, the export may reach back less than 18 months. Check the earliest date the export actually returns.
What Frost's pages don't say
- QuickBooks connections. The pages we read don't mention Direct Connect, Web Connect or a QuickBooks Online bank feed for Frost by name. Check what QuickBooks offers for Frost in the client's own file.
- What the export contains. The pages don't describe the columns or the date-range options.
- Statements older than 7 years. The pages don't say how to get them or what it costs. The Online Statement Delivery agreement says a fee may apply for a copy, subject to Frost's schedule of fees (Frost), which we didn't read.
- Limited users. The pages don't say whether a user without full access can export or open eStatements. Ask the administrator to check your access.
- Xero. We didn't find a Frost page about a Xero bank feed; we haven't confirmed one either way.
Which route for which months
- Going forward: Frost Connect exports, in date ranges that don't overlap anything already imported, or whatever connection QuickBooks offers for Frost in the client's file.
- The last 18 months or so: exports from Frost Connect, once you've confirmed the file type and the earliest date available.
- Older months, Xero, or an account about to close: the PDF statements, downloaded and saved while they're still online.
- Every month: tie the imported lines out to the statement before you reconcile (below).
QuickBooks Online
- Intuit's manual upload takes a PDF or image statement in English, or a QBO, QFX or CSV file. A list file must be 350 KB or less, with 3 columns (Date, Description, Amount) or 4 (Date, Description, Credit, Debit), up to 1,000 lines per upload (Intuit: manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online, updated Aug 24, 2026). Intuit says the file should start at least one day before your oldest QuickBooks transaction in that account (Intuit). If a connection already brought in some of a month, see duplicate transactions after a bank upload.
- Intuit says you can't download the same transactions into a QuickBooks Desktop company file more than once, and once you delete downloaded transactions you can't download them again (Intuit: download bank feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop, updated Aug 5, 2026). Back up the company file before you change its connection or import a file. For months with only a PDF, see can QuickBooks Desktop import a PDF bank statement.
Xero
- Frost Bank is on Xero's US list of banks with validated PDF extraction (checked 26 Oct 2026), so high-quality results are likely, but Xero says it validates selected statement types and recommends OFX over PDF when your bank offers it. Frost's pages don't say whether its export includes OFX. Xero's PDF import is for US and Canada organizations, not the Xero Ledger plan; files must be English, 35 MB or less, up to 100 pages, at least 200 DPI, not password protected, one file per bank account (Xero Central: import a PDF bank statement). Check every imported month against the statement.
- If you build a CSV instead, Xero needs at least Date and Amount, with money in positive and money out negative in one column, and no opening or closing balance columns (Xero Central: import a bank statement in CSV format).
- Xero treats lines matching ones already in Xero as duplicates and won't import them (Xero Central), but don't rely on that; import only the months the account doesn't already have.
More detail: how to import bank statements into Xero from a PDF and closed bank account statements into QuickBooks or Xero.
Tie out each month before you import
- Opening balance + deposits − withdrawals = closing balance on the Frost statement, to the cent.
- Chain the months: each closing balance equals the next statement's opening balance.
- Sum the file's or feed's lines for the statement period and compare them with the statement's net change. A difference usually means a missing transaction type, an overlapping download, or a date range off by a day.
- Spot-check the first and last days of the period and the largest few items against the PDF.
The full method is in check a bank statement PDF is complete before you import it. Our free tie-out checker runs in your browser and shows the row where a CSV stops balancing. Then reconcile one statement at a time, oldest first; if QuickBooks says the beginning balance is off, see beginning balance doesn't match.

Where LedgerReady fits
For Frost, exports reach back about 18 months and the agreement promises each statement online for only 90 days, so the PDF statements, saved as they arrive, are the record for older months, Xero, an account about to close, and any month you want tied to the bank's statement balances. If you'd rather not convert and check each month yourself, LedgerReady turns digital statement PDFs into a QBO file, a Xero CSV, a plain CSV and a tie-out sheet showing every month matches its opening and closing balance. It costs $15 per statement-month, and we aim to deliver within 12 hours. Tie-out guarantee: if the output doesn't reconcile to the statement's opening and closing balances and we can't fix it, you don't pay for that statement.
Skip the manual work
We turn statement PDFs into QBO, Xero and CSV files plus a tie-out sheet. $15 per statement-month, $149 for a 12-month catch-up. Prefer to check it yourself? Our tie-out checker runs in your browser. See how pros do catch-up.
